PRACTICE FOR BEGINNERS

When starting out learning Ventriloquism all you need is practice practice practice practice practice, basically in the beginning stages all you should be doing is study study and practice practice practice. Being a beginner you can use your socks for a puppet, maybe draw a face on the sock, eyes and a nose and a mouth, the mouth is where your hand will be so maybe wear the sock on your hand when making the mouth for your sock puppet, you can use a marker to color the eyes and nose and mouth for sock practice puppet.
