BREATHING EXERCISE. π² (beginner Ventriloquists in training) π²π²π²π²
breathing is a very important tool in the skill of a Ventriloquist...when you throw your voice into a empty box breathing is highly involved. When you are performing a dialogue with your character breathing is involved. in this breathing exercise you will need to go bike riding because this exercise is a training exercise not a regular exercise, in this training no walking, no running and no stationary bicycles, no electricity bicycles, use a old fashioned bicycle with the pedals.
I am sure you have been taught by some sports coaches and trainers to breathe in and out yourπnose, not in this training exercise. let's begin here.
Follow the instructions below when participating in this exercise.
1.FLAT LAND: eat one pepper mint candy before starting your bike riding.
2. after you have melted down some of the pepper mint candy in your mouth, breath in slowly in to your nose and exhale slowly out your mouth. Three times.. inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale...
3. get on your bicycle to start riding the flat land only,no up hills or down hills...on the flat land training as you are riding breath inhale, as you are pedaling inhale and exhale speaking in your character voice.. inhale with your nose, exhale with your character voice, you can exhale with or without lip control.
UPHILL: in this breathing exercise is where you are going to build your Ventriloquism muscles so if you're not ready for the uphill exercise, approach when ready... during this exercise no pepper mint candy simply because it is going to be too much airflow going on in the exercise situation.. on your bicycle as you pedal up hill you want to control your breathing as you inhale through your nose and exhale your character voice through your mouth,fast or slow or maybe have your character voice sing songs while pedal uphill. This exercise will work your lungs and vocal cords all while engaging the complete body functions such as the brain,the heart and body muscles.
DOWNHILL: in the downhill exercise, as you are going downhill the wind is coming towards you or you are surrounded by flow of air because of the speed of the bicycle.. as you are going down hill inhale through your nose and have your character voice shout or scream quickly then if you haven't reach the bottom of the hill inhale slowly through your nose and exhale your character voice quickly through your mouth.. the downhill exercise give strength in breathing control by control the pitch of your voice. while you are going downhill try to inhale air to hold a quick second then give it to your character voice, maybe try to get a few in before reaching the bottom of the hill..a Windy day on a long downhill would be good, because it will give you alot of wind to train with. be cautious on training this exercise a short period of time. Always check the weather forecast before doing this exercise, beware of heat temperatures and cold weather. Maybe in the spring πΌ time jump on your mountain bicycle and go for a mountain bike ride with your Ventriloquist character voice.
