SHOW... BUSINESS CLASS (for the amateur)

once you have the show part together of your Ventriloquist act it's time to put the business part together. 
You need contact information so people can get in touch with you, a phone number, email address or mailing address or website or what you need to used for your contact information. 
You need business cards and flyers and post cards and what ever physical material, material that you can give to someone, I know about digital stuff but you also want to use vintage style, don't limit yourself in the way you do business.
I suggest that you start doing business with a simple Ventriloquist act or show, don't try to overwhelm yourself with glamour of your show and be available for any open opportunities. this means as a amateur Ventriloquist you are auditioning for potential customers, keep that in mind, that means those free shows are going to lead to paid shows or more stage times, either way is good because stage time is more important than getting paid, let me clear that up by saying it this way, the more stage time you receive the more experienced you get, the more exposure you get, more eyes are on you the product, then you become a known product. don't be afraid of selfpromoting in your amateur Ventriloquist stage, you are selling a product and that product is your Ventriloquist act, so it's okay to do free shows for selfpromoting or a meet and greet because those events are going to lead you to another lead and another lead. as a amateur Ventriloquist you will learn to become a business person but I say get greedy in your Ventriloquist amateur stage because I was one big greedy Ventriloquist, I had the radio on the TV on the computer on looking for the next big event or audition. If there's a talent show somewhere go try it, if theres a contest enter the contest, if a agency are looking for entertainers check it out, if your neighborhood market is having a grand opening go talk to the manager to see if you can  be a door greeter for customers, I did that, it was fun, Sammy and I greeted passerbys and handed them coupons to the grand opening, people went in to see the new market instead of just walking by the market.
as a amateur Ventriloquist make sure you have a good polish Ventriloquist act to sell, remember to always add new stuff to the act such as a new puppet, a new magic trick... basically you will need to put an hour together
1 hour! yes 1 hour is what most customers will hire you to perform at a birthday party. So I will give you my old 1 hour program because I am retired from live on stage shows

Sammy:         10 minutes
Snyder:           10 minutes
Magic:             10 minutes
sing along Samantha 10 minutes
Sammy closing 10 minutes+
me: Ending show thanks and welcomes and give aways such as tshirts, business cards, photos,etc.

My live show entertainment program sometimes ran over an hour. As you can see I used more than one character, my main character is Sammy and will always be, Snyder is my goofy Ventriloquist character and Samantha is my singing character, she is the musical part of the show, you also see that I mixed the show up with magic tricks also, then at the end I did some selfpromoting with free give aways, these free giveaways are for remembering you. always have something to give away at your shows it helps move the product believe or not.as you grow up the ladder 🪜 in your beginner Ventriloquist stage you will have built a one hour show by the time you get to the amateur stage. when I was a beginner Ventriloquist I had maybe ten different characters and lots and lots of magic tricks, I had many many fairlytails story books that I used for my Ventriloquist story book shows at schools and library shows and children shows in general. This is the business part putting your act together to sell. Look at my old program above, each character got ten minutes and when Sammy and I are having fun time go by sooo fast!
