TABLE READING. ( practice time for beginner Ventriloquists).

This is not a lesson or a study, this is a practice table read for the beginner Ventriloquist.what is a table read? a table read is when actors read the script or story out loud. The actors are getting to know the characters in the script or playwriting, in the script there are action taken such as pick up a glass of water or walk over to the window to look out, these are called stage directions.
In your Ventriloquist practice table read, I would like for you to read a short story book to your Ventriloquist partner or puppet.
during practice you read a story out loud, your Ventriloquist character is listening to you as you read, your Ventriloquist character should interrupt you with a question or a remark or laugh or joke or with body language of enjoying the story or even falling to 😴 sleep. In a table read for actors there are directions and action for the actor to take, in your practice have your character do something while you're reading the fairytale story, like I mentioned before such as laughing, joking about the story, or falling asleep, ect.. this Ventriloquist table read is a practice time of a short story, it will help you on your speaking skills and your acting skills, this means your Ventriloquist character will react or respond to you while you are speaking... Practice reading a different story so your Ventriloquist character can respond and react differently to you speaking and don't forget you are not just reading but you are also reacting to your partner..This Ventriloquist table read is a part of the art of theater, it should help you see yourself as a actor in a play.. as a beginner you may not have money to take acting lessons, so this table read practice will give you enough training for your Ventriloquist career...Practice with a different story in each story reading your character is listening and responding to what he or she hears and you react to your character while you continue reading the story out loud to your little helper.
*example below*
Ventriloquist: it's storytime, I am going to read you a story.
character: what's it called?
Ventriloquist: the title is, the three little pigs..
character: what are they're names.. breakfast lunch and dinner!
Ventriloquist: we will learn there names as the story goes on...(begin reading).
_____________________________________________
stage instructions:
you can hold your character with one hand and the story with the other hand.. practice in front of a mirror. In practice remember not to stick your face down in the story, read some of the story then look at your partner, then read, then have your partner do something or say something.. look at your partner as you read the story to your partner.. basically you and your Ventriloquist character are reacting with one another all through the story reading, the character is not just standing still and you're not just reading, you are reading a story to your little helper and your little helper is interacting. Interacting could be that your character find the story boring or maybe the story is exciting or maybe your little helper is telling jokes about the story or maybe your little helper find the story a mystery and wants answers or maybe your little helper is distracted by something, be creative during this practice...The table read will train you on  how to put a Ventriloquist act together, it will teach you how to become a Ventriloquist. In this table read, this is done in the raw,  in the raw means no script, no rehearsal, no memorize material, you just do it off the cuffs.this is for practice, so read many different stories to your Ventriloquist figure so you can practice on many different responses and reacting with you and your little helper.

How many times should you practice this Ventriloquist table read or how long? here is the answer: how many times have you seen a basketball player at a park practicing on getting the basketball to go through the hoop basket?, how many times do you see a teenage skateboarder practice on the sidewalks?, how many times do you see athletes jogging on the street for a early morning run?.. this practice table read is no different than the skateboarder or the basketball player at practice.
