 How to make a hollow body..take the arms and legs off the ventriloqust doll stuff body then use duct tape to tape the arms and legs to a shoe box. Cut a hole in the shoe box where the head  will go..remove the head from the soft stuffed Ventriloquist doll body and then mail the head to a Ventriloquist figure maker to have a control head stick installed, it should cost about ten dollars to add a ball and socket neck to a basic Ventriloquist doll head or you can do it yourself. You can find many Ventriloquist figure makers and doll repair shops online these days. You can also build a body from wood, just shape the wood into a shape like a shoe box, use hammer 🔨 and nails.

adding a head stick to a beginner Ventriloquist practice figure...in this case do not remove the string that open and close the mouth.. remove the beginner Ventriloquist figure head from the cotton filled body, attach a base to bottom open of the beginner Ventriloquist doll head, maybe use strong glue or tape, then secure the head stick to the base of the beginner Ventriloquist practice figure head. Put the Ventriloquist figure head on to your shoe box body, now if all went well you should have a advanced practice beginner Ventriloquist figure. This figure will teach how to turn the head of  a Ventriloquist figure and you still have the pull string to open and close the figure mouth. don't forget building this Ventriloquist figure this way is still a beginner Ventriloquist figure.. meaning for practice only, if you want to perform on the amateur level you need to bring the pull string from the back of the neck on to the control stick, replace the rubber band with springs so that the figure mouth operates smoothly..the figure head should move up and down, left to right, your shoe box body should have two legs two arms two feet and two hands, your shoe box body should be fully clothed. Then after you have built your very own beginner practice Ventriloquist figure in to a nice strong put together stage partner then you are all set for your next step..and yes you can create a practice figure into a performance Ventriloquist figure, you just need to work on building it yourself.. your main tools in building your own Ventriloquist partner are a moving head with a moving mouth.
