When I was a amateur Ventriloquist I did a lot of window shopping for professional Ventriloquist figures... there's a big difference between window shopping for a professional Ventriloquist figure and a antique figure.
No one told me as a beginner why Ventriloquist figures were so expensive it's because I was a big dummy looking for the wrong dummy..so I will give you a brief talk on a pro Ventriloquist figure and a antique Ventriloquist figure.. okay so I look at the price of a Ventriloquist dummy and the price is let's say ten dollars, then I see another Ventriloquist dummy for the price of five thousand so I become sad and depressed because I will never own a professional Ventriloquist dummy then I drop out the art of ventriloquism but thank God I didn't drop out because I learned why those Ventriloquist dummy were so expensive..the ten dollar professional Ventriloquist dummy is let's say a Toyota for example and the five thousand dollars professional Ventriloquist figure is a 1965 rose Royce and also an investment because of the increase in value, so you may buy it for five thousand dollars but that five thousand dollars increases as in a collectors item over the passing of time due to the paperwork and condition of the item.. can you drive a 1965 Rose Royce for a everyday car the answer is yes but you take a risk in many ways on devalue, sure you can use a antique Ventriloquist character for everyday performance but remember if you need a part for that antique Ventriloquist character it might not be a original part, the antique Ventriloquist figures must maintain their original from creation that means if you are performing on stage with a one hundred year old antique Ventriloquist dummy that means all the moving parts are one hundred years old moving parts most antique Ventriloquist figures are for demonstrations and displays and art investment, I think I would be too nervous to drive a 1965 rose Royce in theses days traffic so I would be very nervous to perform on stage with a antique Ventriloquist figure hoping nothing break while I am on stage in front of an audience.. antique Ventriloquist figures are not copies they are one of a kind Ventriloquist figures there's no two alike.. usually antique Ventriloquist figures were custom made for a particular artist or reason.
Yes any Ventriloquist doll or puppet can become a professional Ventriloquist figure but a antique Ventriloquist figure is in a class by itself, so as a young amateur Ventriloquist I was sad for no reason so cheer up now that I have shared very very very important information with you that nobody shared with me..I thought the art of Ventriloquism was too expensive when I was a young child even my mother was price shocked! I learned that if you really want a professional Ventriloquist figure you can create your own, even a sock can become a professional Ventriloquist figure I mean take a look at 🐑 lamb chop I would never look at lamb chop as just a sock puppet, lamb chop is a professional Ventriloquist figure just like Lester and Charlie McCarthy..now let me be clear if you want to perform with a rose Royce Ventriloquist figure then that is wonderful and if you want to perform with a sock puppet then that is wonderful.
( Just a reminder the antique Ventriloquist figure below has extra features installed but that has nothing to do with the collector items status.. it's the same with or with out installed moving parts)
