THEATER VENTRILOQUIST π Be creative and entertainingπ
As a original artist in the art of ventriloquism you are part of the theater.
If you are writing your own Ventriloquist theater production make sure you focus on character development.
Writing dreams, writing wishes, writing hope to create a theater play that will take your audience on a journey back home.
Scene production meaning set props should be noticeable by the audience and set design can be simple art in the background and flowers in flower pots can represent a garden.
Ventriloquist Jay Johnson performed his Ventriloquist act on Broadway called "the two and only"... Ventriloquist Jay Johnson won a tony award for his Ventriloquist Broadway performance.
We look at the wizard of oz in many views here today and yesterday in 1939.
_____________________________________________
In your Ventriloquist production your puppets, your dolls, your dummies, your Ventriloquist characters, your Ventriloquist figures, your marionette..will take the place of people..this means you and your Ventriloquist figures are the actors and actresses in the theater production.
as a theater Ventriloquist you will be performing a one man show or one woman show unless you team up with another Ventriloquist or puppeteer.
Ventriloquists and puppeteers are cousins the two arts became rooted together in ancient history times when the Ventriloquist priesthood went into hiding from the kings of the earth, the kings of many kingdoms sent their soldiers to end the Ventriloquist priesthood religion or cult or that threat to the kings empire and the Ventriloquist priesthood scattered over the earth... before and after vaudeville the art of ventriloquism was part of theater.. before the Ventriloquist act was the Ventriloquist theater was.

In the wizard of oz there are many rememberal props such as the red slippers.
Some theater plays are performance of story books so make sure you have the prop details accurate because I have seen a high school play of the wizard of oz where Dorothy red slippers were black slippers so maybe make a note that details are important.
When you are going into theater production some props may not be available so a close look alike would be acceptable like theses examples in the demonstration photo.

Here we have Dorothy red slippers in the wizard of oz.
The prop red slippers in the demonstration photo will come close to the original and the audience can understand but black slippers might confuse some audience members because they are familiar with the wizard of oz story.

Reading a story before creating a Ventriloquist theater production is very wise then just creating from memory.
Where to get stories for your Ventriloquist theater production? if you're not going to write your on playwright the next best way is a book, a book such as the "three little pigs".. or the wizard of oz.. there's many many books that you used for a playwright..but remember audience members know the story from the book that you are performing in your Ventriloquist theater production plays.
Some Ventriloquist write their own theater production plays and I still say it should be in a play write script style.
When you write your own Ventriloquist theater playwright it's a untold story that the audience has not read.. that's the difference between a original artist and a book.

Character character characters
Creating a Ventriloquist theater production can be done by using your original Ventriloquist act characters or creating brand new characters..if you decide to invent new characters and your original Ventriloquist characters are popular let your audience know that these characters are new and you can do this by introducing the new character in the play bill, or fliers or advertising..doing so will alert your Ventriloquist act followers or fan base.
__________________________
The stories are about the character.. and not the character about the story..think about that for a moment...a good writer writes a good story but a good writer can be a good storyteller.
Character development is called character development for a reason, here's a example the audience knew the story of the wizard of oz they knew that the lion was a cowardly lion and the lion wished to be brave but just did not bravery in his heart but through out the story the lion faced many brave challenges that was successful... If you have not mastered character development ventriloquism theater is not the right time as of now but after you have mastered character development then start working on writing a ventriloquism theater play...a Ventriloquist theater is not a Ventriloquist act.

Who will be the savior in your Ventriloquist theater plays if any...who will be the liar politician that pretended to be something that he was not.
__________________________
Your stage production is part of the story scene.
___________________________
Advertising the characters in the play outside the theater location will be a wonderful introduction tool.
If you're on a budget A theater location can be any locations..but a theater for the plays are much better equipped for your production.. a auditorium is a great place for a small production.. a gymnasium will give plenty of space to create a production and even your backyard would be nice for good Ventriloquist theater play..no matter where your Ventriloquist theater production is located the reading in this class are still suggested.

Remember that the script is not the only important part of the story.
The stage production is also script.. this means a giant talking head on a jumbo screen might be a stage prop but it's also a script..the jumbo screen is on stage until it's time for the giant talking head to appear.

Who will be the villain? If any.
The evil witch was the villain of the wizard of oz...she was bad so bad a bucket of clean water did her in for good!
"I AM MELTING!!!"
Dorothy faced alot of oppositions on the way back home and on her way back home she learned many lessons.
Maybe if you like in your script writing you deliver some messages and lessons to your audience, but let me be clear being a Ventriloquist you are a "entertainer" so if you decide to deliver a message to your audience in your story make sure it's in a entertainment way, because your audience is looking for an escape from reality momentarily so don't slap them in the face with a reality check message. even though the wizard of oz was a polical story it was so entertaining the audience never knew it was political, the message was well received, it's a warm hearted message written in script... what is the message, well, Dorothy was a stubborn little girl that her uncles and family members tried to correct but instead of listening and obeying Dorothy ran away from home, she ended up in the real world called OZ, it all was because Dorothy dog kept running in to a neighbors yard the neighbor threatened to take the dog away.. the lion, the tin man, and the scarecrow discovered what they were looking for was inside them but no one never brought it out of them but meeting Dorothy helped them experience their true self, Dorothy no one never told her to leave home it was her decision and her choice, in the story the good witch was the sister of the bad witch, the red slippers belong to the other sister that Dorothy house landed on top of in the dream, the bad witch wanted the red slippers back but the good sister gave them to Dorothy.. no one told you to leave and you could have returned anytime just click the heels three times and think of home.
What is the writers message? well, the message I understand: The decisions and choices that you make affect others... and what you are looking for can be found inside you... and a person might mislead you for their personal gains....
A good person rewards good deeds.
Even though Dorothy had a dream when she awaken surrounded by her friends and family she learned from the dream a valued message and lesson "you were there" and "you were there" and the story ended.

My favorite character in the wizard of oz is the lion.
Maybe you can create some characters that your audience will favor.
___________________________
In creating your set it might be expensive or maybe not expensive but remember that this Ventriloquist theater play is a visual project so that means that the scene production are very important.
____________________________
Remember to introduce a beginning
If you like you can have a narrator to help tell the story.
_______________________________
Always include a middle of the story
Music and songs will be welcome to most theater productions
____________________________
Always tell the purpose of the story
Introduce the character of the story.
__________________________________
And the end of the story.
AT the end make sure you leave the audience on a positive note...a song would be wonderful for a Ventriloquist and the Ventriloquist character instead of ending with a speaking part. The audience will enjoy the ending with a Ventriloquist or puppet singing.
In the wizard of oz the good witch told Dorothy to click the heels π π of her red slippers three times and think about home, "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home"
THE END π
