FIELDS he would always remind the listener that the person he is talking to right in front of him is a wooden dummy.. many audience members never seen Charlie McCarthy in the beginning of the radio career they only seen him in cartoons and image like painting and of course we know Edgar Bergen was a artist in cartoons so Edgar Bergen used his other talent to self-promoting himself and Charlie McCarthy. So when Charlie McCarthy appeared in his first film audience ran to see what Charlie McCarthy looks like, in the first film you will see that the film producers hold back on introducing Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy for the first time, in the first film you don't see Charlie McCarthy right away then after you see Charlie McCarthy for the first time you will get a few more humorous skits from Edgar Bergen and Charlie Mccarthy.
